Ultrasound is a mechanical vibration, inaudible to the human ear. Typically in physiotherapy use two kinds of frequencies:
1) Ultrasonic wave with a frequency of 1 MHz
Penetrates to a depth of 4-6 cm. The This rate has a significant impact on tissues in depth and is effective from the therapeutic point of view.
2) Ultrasonic wave with a frequency of 3 MHz
Reaches a depth 0.8 - 3 cm in the skin. The effect is focused on the subcutaneous tissue. Acts of connective and fatty tissue, leading to thermal, mechanical and chemical changes in the application.
The ultrasound acts on tissues in two main ways: mechanical (cell micro massage) and thermal (temperature increase caused by the passage of molecules in the excited state.
Ultrasonic vibration generates micromassage which causes stretching and contraction of the tissues, and this in turn causes the activation of the cells. The application of ultrasound stimulates collagen fibers of the cells, as well as a better absorption of the drugs and active substances applied transdermally. The ultrasonic waves selectively eliminate the adipocytes (fat cells) of the treated areas, without damaging the nerves, blood vessels or the skin. Ultrasounds have a good result in procedures for body shaping, abdomen, thighs (inner and outer part), waist, back, hips and breasts in men.
Essentially, the ultrasonic therapy is micromassage with high frequency and small amplitude, which is founded the in the therapeutic action. This leads to an increase in temperature of tissues, activation of metabolic processes and enhance local circulation. Mechanical action is obtained when the oscillating particles cause, the release of fibrotic adhesions. The chemical effect is a result of increased consumption of oxygen, which leads to oxidation of the fat and releasing more energy and hence a significant increase in temperature.
Ultrasound is recommended for the treatment of cellulite and circulation problems. Treatment with ultrasound helps to better supply the tissues with oxygen, drainage of excess fluids and toxins, reduce swelling and local obesity.
Application in aesthetic medicine:
• Local cellulite fat deposits • Lipodystrophy - a pathological condition characterized by general or local decrease or increase the amount of fat in the subcutaneous layer • Swollen
Application in physiotherapy:
Inflammatory processes • Injuries • Venous insufficiency • reabsorption of hematoma and others.
